Wayne Shorter, Terri Lyne Carrington, Leo Genovese and Esperanza Spalding was also nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album and has won Best Improvised Jazz Solo for Shorter and Genovese’s performance on “Endangered Species”. In a testament to the level of trust and respect these great artists share, the set was almost entirely improvised, leaving space for the spontaneous expression and assured interplay between these four leaders of the modern jazz world.
